WELCOME

Prof. Wang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Stony Brook University. Before joining Stony Brook, he worked as a postdoctoral associate at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He received his B.E. (2001) and Ph.D. (2006) from Tsinghua University, majoring in Solid Mechanics. Prof. Wang received National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award of P.R. China (2008) and Natural Science Award from Ministry of Education of China (2009). His research has been reported in the media, including MIT Today's Spotlight, MIT News, NBC News, Nature News, Material Views, and PhysOrg.

The research interests of Prof. Wang include materials modeling, computational mechanics, materials testing and characterization, materials fabrication, rapid prototyping and 3D printing; design and characterization of acoustic and mechanical metamaterials; mechanical behaviors of polymer fibers, networks, microstructures, and composites; nanomechanics and design of biological materials and bio-inspired materials; mechanics of carbon nanotubes, graphite, and their composites.
