Research Interests and History
Director of the Advanced Transportation Systems Laboratory and Research Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Stony Brook University. Dr. Machtay holds a Bachelors of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from The Cooper Union, a Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Stony Brook University, and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering also from Stony Brook University. Dr. Machtay has been a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) since 1999, a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) since 2001 (and serves as the SAE Collegiate Chapter Faculty Advisor for Stony Brook University), and is a member of the Pi Tau Sigma and Tau Beta Pi honor societies. Dr. Machtay teaches courses in system dynamics and control, finite element method, and mechatronics, and runs the Rockwell Automation Anorad Mechatronics and Manufacturing Automation Laboratories within the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Stony Brook University.
