Research Interests and History

Maen Alkhader’s research areas include Experimental Solid Mechanics, Ultralight materials, Composites, Cellular solids and Hierarchical Materials, Mechanics of Time Dependent Materials, Characterization of
Impact\Blast Resistant Materials, High-Strain-Rate Behavior and Dynamic Failure of Materials, Mechanics of Novel Materials for Energy Technology. Before joining Stony Brook in 2011, he was a postdoctoral scholar at California Institute of Technology (Graduate Aeronautical Laboratory). He serves as a frequent reviewer for several journals and has been char/co-chair/ organizer for conferences. He has worked closely with the automotive industry in the US and abroad. He was a computational structural analyst at Caterpillar Champaign Simulation Center in 2008-2009.
