THE CIVIL ENGINEERING GATEWAY SCHOLARSHIP

Description:

The goal of the Civil Engineering Gateway Scholarship is to recruit outstanding SBU undergraduate students to pursue an MS degree in civil engineering at SBU with the additional opportunity of linking their graduate education with an industry engineering experience. The scholarship consists of a $5,000 award for use towards tuition costs during one academic year (two semesters). The scholarship will be split and awarded each academic semester. Two awards per year are estimated.

The Gateway Scholarship is in partnership with H2M Engineers and Architects.

Eligibility:

The Civil Engineering Gateway Scholarship will provide support for students pursuing an MS degree in civil engineering. Eligibility criteria:

  1. SBU Civil Engineering undergraduate students are eligible to apply in the fall semester of the academic year during which they will graduate.
  2. Recipients must be graduates of SBU’s Civil Engineering undergraduate program with a graduating overall GPA of 3.25 or higher.
  3. Recipients must be enrolled as a full-time M.S. graduate student in the Department of Civil Engineering. Students may follow either the project (research-based) or thesis M.S. program option.
  4. Continuation of scholarship support after the first semester is contingent on the recipient maintaining good academic standing in his/her graduate program.

Submit the following documents as a single PDF file to the Civil Engineering Department Chair via email:

  1. A cover letter indicating academic interests and purpose for graduate study,
  2. A resume,
  3. Unofficial transcripts.
