Research Interests

Dr. Celli’s expertise is in experimental and computational aspects of solid mechanics, with a focus on nonlinear mechanics, structural dynamics and wave physics. His research goal is to leverage mechanics principles and some amount of creativity to design structural systems characterized by unprecedented functionalities, and capable of adapting to the environment around them. His current interests are: (i) Shape-morphing functional structures made of materials that are relevant for Earth and Space applications; (ii) Metamaterials/structures that are designed to filter, guide and manipulate mechanical waves across scales; (iii) Environment-responsive structures; (iv) Augmenting large-scale 3D printing strategies with post-fabrication shape changes.
