TWO FACULTY POSITIONS FOR
FALL 2008
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Stony Brook University invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions, starting September 2008.
The two positions are in the areas of (a) thermal/fluid sciences and (b) design and robotics. The positions are open for all ranks and compensation will be commensurate with qualifications. The successful candidate must have an earned doctorate in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field, a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching, and the ability to establish and sustain an externally funded research program. Applicants who have a strong research background in mechatronics are particularly encouraged to apply for the position in design and robotics.
Stony Brook University has recently established an Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center with $35 million funding from the New York State . Stony Brook also provides unique opportunities for its faculty to collaborate with scientists at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL). This includes the jointly operated 100 teraflop supercomputer facility. The College of Engineering and Applied Sciences has state sponsored programs to facilitate faculty collaboration with industry.
